The river delivery
Meet the capybara crew, color the scene and think about the river crossing they need.

Four ways across
Match beam, arch, truss and suspension bridges to four numbered diagrams.

A square that wiggles
Cut and tape paper strips into a square and a triangle, then investigate how each shape moves.
A whole bundle of things to try.
Try one activity at a time, or spread the bundle over several sessions. Print the pages you need, and follow the numbered sequence for activities that build on earlier results.

A few little ways
to play.
Start with the printable. See where their imagination takes it.
Make a paper bridge lab
Choose a building challenge from the bundle. Predict what will happen before testing, then keep your result. A bridge that bends gives you a useful clue for your next design.
Look for bridges outside
On your next walk, look for a footbridge or road bridge from a safe public place. Notice the shape, the supports, and what passes over or under it. Sketch something you recognize from the bundle.
Give the design a story
Decide what your capybara crew needs to carry across the river. Turn that little problem into a drawing, a conversation, or the beginning of a story.
Easy on your printer. Ready for their crayons.
Use the PDF that matches your paper, print in portrait, and check the preview before you start. Choose “Fit to printable area” if your printer clips the edges. Read our printing guide.
